The production and processing of metal stamping parts requires many technological processes. If there is a slight carelessness in the operation process, it can easily cause undesirable phenomena such as cracking and tearing of the metal stamping parts, affecting the normal use of the product. The following is an analysis of the causes and prevention methods of cracking of metal stamping parts.
Causes of cracking of hardware stampings
1. Excessive local tensile stress: During processing, due to excessive local tensile stress, the metal stamping parts are affected by internal stress, external impact, etc., resulting in local large bulging deformation and cracking.
2. Flanging forming die design defect: the die is common to the left/right parts of the first mock examination and two cavities. As the content of this process is not only flanging, but also has shape forming content. In addition, the parts are particularly complex, the bending surface is narrow, and the forming requirements are that the concave die pressing core is consistent with the forming surface. This leads to large forming stroke, small pressing area, and cracking in the die structure.
3. Inadequate implementation of forming process parameters: During the forming process of parts, the process requires that the concave mold, pressing core, and both parts must closely fit together, and when the machine tool slider slides down, the plastic deformation of the sheet metal is pressed to achieve forming. The processing technicians did not timely adjust the machine tool pressure at this stage in accordance with the specified process requirements, resulting in unstable work and cracking of the stamping parts.
Methods for Preventing Cracking of Metal Stamping Parts
1. Structural design of metal stamping parts: During design, it is best to have a larger radius of each fillet, a shallower actual depth of the curved surface shape in the drawing direction, a more uniform depth everywhere, and a simpler shape with a smoother change.
2. Drawing process for metal stamping parts: The drawing direction should be as large as possible in the contact area between the punch and the blank, the reasonable shape of the blank holder surface and the blank holder force should make the resistance of each part of the blank holder surface uniform and moderate, reduce the drawing depth, open process holes, and process cuts.
3. Die design for metal stamping parts: Measures such as reasonably designed deep drawing ribs, using larger mold corners, and making the gap between the male and female molds reasonable can be taken.
During the processing of metal stamping parts, there are many fault defects such as cracks, which require the employees of the processing factory to design reasonably and operate carefully in order to prevent and reduce the occurrence of undesirable phenomena of metal stamping parts and improve product quality.
